Powerland snow blowers – 32 inch 13 Hp 2 stage snow blower

by Martin

in Gas snow blowers, Powerland snow blowers, Two stage snow blowers

Powerland snow blowers are generally competitively priced machines and at around $900, this model fits that description.

This is a fairly high powered machine with a generous 32 inch wide clearing width, so it would be suitable for areas with moderate to heavy snow and for covering medium to large driveways, lots etc.

Please note this model may not currently be available. See also the conclusions at the end of the article

Features at a glance

  • 389cc 13 hp OHV engine
  • Push button electric / recoil start
  • 6 forward, 2 reverse gears
  • Suitable for unpaved and gravel surface
  • Clearing width 32 inches
  • Clearing depth 21 inches
  • Two stage

What can it do?

This Powerland snow blowers model has a powerful four stroke (four cycle) 389cc, 13hp, air-cooled OHV engine.

The Powerland PDST 32 inch will clear over 20 inches of hard packed snow and ice and cut a 32 inch wide path.

It is self-propelling, with 6 forward & 2 reverse speeds and has a fuel tank capacity of 1.7 US gallons. That should afford continuous operation from 3-1/2 to 5 hours, depending on how it is driven.

Is it easy to use?

First off, this model has an ignition keyed electric starter that starts quickly and saves the effort of hauling on a cord.

The drive, shift, chute and auger are controlled at or near the handlebars to provide ‘one-handed’ operation.

One downside, though, is that changing chute direction requires stopping the machine, unscrewing the chute lock to adjust in and then re-tightening the lock.

Is it worth buying?

Powerland snow blowers are not made one by the leading manufactures or with a brand-name engine, so there is a bit more uncertainty about what you might be getting compared with a big name model.

They appear to be all Chinese made and there a appears to be a lack of support and attention to detail in their design and manufacture

They are relatively cheap but, as ever, you have to weigh up the cost against the quality and compare against what you might have to pay for comparable power and specification in another brand.

Powerland PDST24 24-Inch 196cc 6.5 HP OHV Two Stage Thrower With Electric Start

Also available from Powerland is their 24 inch 6.5Hp two stage snow blower.

The 24 inch model has very mixed reviews from its owners. Many complain about cheaply made components and frequent failure of components.

Overall conclusions on Powerland snow blowers

Considering that when the snow hits, you need to your snow blower to get stuck into the job quickly and without fail, there are too many complaints about these machines to suggest that they are sufficiently reliable.

In short, Powerland snow blowers are not recommended.

Alternative two stage snow blowers

At the ‘value’ end of the market, Poulan snow blowers are probably a bit more expensive overall but are undoubtedly superior products and still pretty keenly priced.

Other options worth looking at are the Yard Machine and Murray models.
